Nokia has confirmed that it’s working on tablet, following months of online speculation.
The confirmation comes via Nokia’s chief designer, Marko Ahtisaari, who let slip to Finnish magazine Kauppalehti Optio that he was currently designing a tablet computer. According to the interview, Ahtisaari is designing a tablet that will be able to differentiate itself from the ever-growing pack of Android and Apple devices, although further details are still sparse.
“We continue to eye the tablet space with interest, but have made no specific announcements,” a Nokia spokesperson said.
That’s hasn’t stopped the rumour mill firing up once again, though. If to be believed, the Finnish smartphone-makers are working on a 10-inch Windows 8 tablet which will feature a dual-core Qualcomm processor.
Nokia’s debut tablet is expected to hit shelves in time for the holidays, but this remains to be confirmed.
